My Story

Congratulations to your sweet family on the news of a baby! What a precious time in your lives. I remember finding out that I was pregnant and being filled with a mix of emotions- immense joy, fear of the unknown, uncertainty in my abilities, and an overwhelming resolve to care for my growing baby.

As a mother of three babies, I chose to become a Birth Doula as a way to bridge the gap between provider and mother. My first pregnancy, I had no idea that there were choices in my care during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum. There was no plan, and things didn't go as smoothly as I imagined (or what I had seen on tv at least).

In the days after my baby was born, I had a lot of family support but I was constantly asking questions. I was seeking answers on newborn care, feeding, diaper changing, sleep, schedule (or not). I was usually the "young mom" in my group of friends, so I would be the one that friends looked to with the same questions when they had babies. This led me to 15 years later serving moms as a postpartum doula!

With my second and third births, I firsthand experienced the helpfulness of a labor doula and her wisdom in carrying me through questions during pregnancy and the process of labor. It was a completely different experience from my first! I had one person to direct my emotional and curious questions to. The women that supported me made my birth experience a dream! I was able to have two (very different) natural births at home that would not have been possible without support.

After a few years of unofficially serving women in birth, I decided to make things official with training through DONA. The reading, education, and hands on learning grew my enthusiasm to serve women!

I have assisted and served mamas for the past 9 years collectively/4 years officially, and the passion that I have found within myself for this ministry is something I thank God for. I am connecting with mothers and their partners, because I have a deep desire for the execution of what a woman considers her ideal birth to look like.

Many families think of a Birth Doula being someone who assists with only natural/unmedicated births. Which is so not true! As a Birth Doula, I will serve you where you're at. I will provide unbiased resources and also firsthand experience when asked. I have attended inductions, planned and unplanned c-sections, home births and hospital births that were unmedicated.

One of the greatest compliments I can get from a mother is "I feel like you understood me, fought for me, and heard my desires."

Prior to your birth, I'll get to meet with you and your partner to hear your birth wishes. We will come up with a birth plan, and I will provide education on the labor process and postpartum.  From the beginning of our relationship with a consult, I will be asking "What do you want birth or postpartum to look like?" I will make sure you are ready for your sweet baby's arrival!  I will give pointers and make sure that you're not forgetting any pertinent information.

I wish you the best in your pregnancy journey and would be honored to serve you as your doula!

"You were a wonderful, calming presence at the birth of both my children. I was very thankful for your emotional and physical support. You were there every step of the way (during and after the birth) comforting me, encouraging me, and being so helpful!"  Audrey

“When I became pregnant with my second child I knew I wanted to hire a doula so that I could have a medication free birth. Danielle was an absolute godsent. She was so supportive and gave me all the resources my husband and I needed to help best prepare me for my birth. Later in my pregnancy I found out it was in my best interest to have a csection. That was the hardest decision I made and Danielle was there every step of the way as I made my decision. She was so supportive and comforting in the operating room and after I gave birth. I don't think I could have had the birth experience I did without her! She is so kind and compassionate about what she does and I truly believe she makes a difference! I 100% recommend choosing her as your doula!!”- Anna

“With her soothing voice, the many tricks up her sleeve, and vast knowledge, Danielle was the perfect choice for our birth. This was our third birth and second home birth. I’ve never had a doula before and honestly was on the fence about it but felt like we would need another support person. I am so glad we went through with it. She was so encouraging and knew exactly what to do in many different situations. We discussed several things that I wanted and ways I like to be comforted etc before the birth and she remembered them all. She reminded my midwife and myself of the things I desired. After the birth she kept in touch with me and updates with the new baby. She truly cares about her clients and that is evident. Having her at our birth was truly a blessing.” - Jordan

"Danielle and Heather worked together to cover the postpartum doula services our family needed. Both provided invaluable support. They were attentive, gentle and sensitive to the vulnerable state I was in after having my second baby. They were also super patient with our toddler and provided extra attention he needed during a tough transition. Not only did they help with my healing and physical comfort, but they also served as a listening ear and great company. We completely trusted Danielle and Heather to care for our newborn and keep her safe while we rested or needed a break. Our family had a wonderful experience overall and missed them both tremendously when our postpartum services came to an end." Hannah S. Chattanooga
