Preparing for Childbirth
Perfect for those looking for a quick course which will educate and empower you!
We will cover birth preparation, empowerment, the stages of labor, challenges & interventions, and the first hour of life including breastfeeding. The Plumtree Preparing for Birth Manual, as well as handouts, are provided for you to learn more at home. The class is centered around a powerpoint, class discussion, games/practice, and videos.
Class sizes are kept small at 3-5 couples. There are couches, chairs, bean bags, and birth balls for seating. You are encouraged to bring other items for comfort- yoga mat, pillows, blankets, or your own birth ball. Snacks are provided and may include cheese & crackers, sweet bread, hummus, fruit, and veggies. You are asked to bring your own drink.
Amy Poarch is an ICEA certified childbirth educator. While there is no method promoted by ICEA or Amy, she believes and follows the ICEA motto- "Freedom to make decisions based on knowledge of alternatives in family-centered maternity and newborn care." Amy has been working in the childbirth field since 2005 and is a DONA certified birth doula, Hypnobabies certified birth doula, and a postpartum doula. Investment: Six Hour class-$125/couple ($100 for Birth Chattanooga clients). Two Hour Classes- $50/couple. A non-refundable deposit of $25 is required with your registration.
Private classes: 6 hour class - $250
