How to Find the Best Chattanooga Doula For You!
You have done your research on the benefits and have decided to hire a doula, but how do you find the right doula for you? Here are three tips to help in this process.
1) Check out the doulas online. Most of the Chattanooga area doulas have websites or Facebook pages. From this you can learn about their experience, training, and interests. This may help you to narrow down the doulas you would like to meet face to face for an interview. Also, look to see if they offer other services you may be interested in. It is beneficial to be able to use the same doula for multiple services whether that be childbirth classes, postpartum care, or placenta encapsulation.
2) Interview more than one doula. Interviews are free and are a good way to see if you and your partner click with an individual doula. It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions. It may be important to you that she has worked with your care provider or at your birth location before. You may want a doula with experience with VBACs, Hypnobabies, or other unique situations. It also gives the doula a chance to go over her services, her limitations, and fees.
3) Sleep on It. Sometimes, you meet a doula and right away know that she is the one you want to be with you when you give birth. This is a big decisions and you may need a few days to consider which doula is the best fit.
